My Process
I find doing a whole section about my process strange, because I’m not sure I have a real process, per se. I wish I could be more helpful here. Basically, my process is ongoing and interspersed throughout my regular day of working, parenting, chores, etc.
It goes something like:
“Find something I think is cool, dive down rabbit hole. Surface some unknown time later. Learn other new stuff, possibly adjescent to original. Get distracted; enjoy cute animal pictures. Look at art. Decide it’s time for bed. Read books. Brain mashes things up and throws out phrases and images. Jot/sketch ideas. Sometimes suddenly discover it’s already morning now.”
Also important to my process is, “Lose place ideas were put. Go for walks. Fret. The fretting could be about art things, but also might be generalized fretting. Learn more stuff in random fashion; see or hear something cool, possibly mis-hear something in an interesting way. Become obsessed with some idea; learn lots and doodle/write/talk about it at length. Remember a basic necessity like shower, food, hydration, sunshine. Create stuff. Decide what I like. Or at least don’t hate. Share both successes and failure with friends. Keep making art.”
If that’s not your process, that’s okay too. Quite possibly better, in fact. You might have more consistent art, or at least better eating habits.
